Eight-Month Rookie Year Journey Ends At Kansas For Levine

When the checkered flag falls on the Full Throttle S’loonshine 98.9 at Kansas Speedway, it will mark the end of the 2015 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards season. It will also mark the end of an eight month, 12-state journey for rookie driver David Levine.

It has been a season with many highlights for David and his Lira Motorsports crew, including capturing multiple SCOTT Rookie of the Race and CGS Imaging Hard Charger Award honors. His most recent highlight came in the September 26th race in Kentucky, where he collected his first career top five finish, crossing the finish line 3rd in the Crosley Brands 150 at Kentucky Speedway.

Another important highlight for David, who had open heart surgery as an infant, is the multiple visits he has made to visit children at hospitals in various cities on the ARCA circuit this year. Raising awareness about congenital heart defects, and letting race fans know how important living a healthy lifestyle is at any age, is an important cause to David. He has been a big supporter of the American Heart Association throughout his racing career.

The 22-year old former sports car racer from Highland Park, IL enters the season finale at 5th in the series driver points standings. He is second in the SCOTT Rookie Challenge standings, after leading the rookie standings for the majority of the season.

His final position in both rankings won’t be decided until the end of the 100 lap race on Friday, October 16th at Kansas Speedway. He currently stands 110 points behind 4th place in the drivers points, which is equivalent to 22 positions on the track.

In the rookie battle, despite being ranked only two points behind current SCOTT Rookie Challenge points leader Kyle Weatherman, David will need to do more than just finish in front of him to capture the Rookie title. SCOTT Rookie points utilize the best 15 finishes from the 20-race season, with the season finale marking Weatherman’s 15th race. Due to the structure of the system, David will need to finish in front of Weatherman with several rookies in between them, in order to regain his points lead.

This will be David’s first time racing at Kansas Speedway.  He, along with the rest of the ARCA Racing Series drivers, will start the day with a two-hour practice session between 9:30-11:30am. Menards Pole Qualifying Presented by Ansell is set to begin at 2:30pm. The green flag for the The Full Throttle S’loonshine 98.9 is scheduled for 7:30pm, with live coverage on FOX Sports 1. ARCAracing.com will also feature live timing and scoring of all on-track activities. The race is 100 laps (150 miles).
