Sandell & Dyne Look for Wins in Red Bull GRC’s Duel in Detroit

One could make the argument auto racing was probably born in Detroit. At some dinner, Henry Ford likely challenged someone else’s car to the equivalent of a modern day duel. One hundred plus years later, the Red Bull Global Rallycross series will take their 600+ horsepower machines to the Motor City for rounds 5 & 6 of the 2015 season.

Patrik Sandell and the Kobalt Tools team has been fast at every stop on the schedule; however, good luck has not been able to keep pace with the #18 BHR car. Luck began to change when Sandell held on for strong second on July 5 at the Marine Air Station New River event. Following the two-week break in the schedule, the BHR is better prepared than ever for the “Duel in Detroit”…

Patrik Sandell on the Detroit Double:
“We had a really good test session last week in preparation for the double-header coming up in Detroit this weekend. The team really improved the Kobalt Tools car that was fast out of the box. We have now been able to put our own touch to it, and I feel really good about it because the communication between engineers, team, and I is fantastic. Everyone is getting up to pace, and I feel really confident and comfortable going forward.”
“The Detroit event will be a special one. First of all it’s a double-header, and second of all it’s the headquarters city of Ford. So I think to win up there will be big for our team’s growth. I think we will definitely have the Kobalt Tools car up there fighting for the win. We are definitely going to Detroit with the focus on winning our first race of the season.”

The #14 Castrol MAGNATEC machine of Austin Dyne has been a consistent threat to podium every time on track. The result: Dyne is in the thick of the Supercar Points Championship race. It will be important for the #14 team to maintain the pressure on the competition for podiums, wins, and now points…

Austin Dyne on the Detroit Double:
“I’m pumped for this weekend. Like Patrik said, we had a strong test last week and found some improvements in the Castrol car.”
“We’re in the hunt for the Supercar championship. Detroit, being a double-header will be very important for us to have top four or better finishes each day. But I’m still going for the wins! My second place finish at Daytona made me hungrier than ever to stand atop the podium.”

Collete Davis and the River Racing #07 team continue to improve in the GRC Lites category. Since Daytona, Davis has consistently made the feature events, and the gap to the leaders continues to shrink. For a first year rallycross racer, Davis is showing all the signs of making a long career in the sport.

Collete Davis on the Detroit Double:
“The double race weekends are a huge plus for our team. The more time on-track we get with the River Racing car, the more competitive we are. Our goals for this weekend are to continue to improve, and start to threaten for podiums in the Lites category…”
