Bell Takes Third TOTAL Pole Award In Stevenson Camaro

Matt Bell got down to business quickly on Friday at Lime Rock Park, turning a lap of 57.654 seconds (95.535 mph) early in the session in the No. 9 Stevenson Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro Z/28.R to capture his third TOTAL Pole Award of the season.

Bell and co-driver Lawson Aschenbach are seeking their first victory of the season in the Grand Sport (GS) class in Saturday’s Northeast Grand Prix, Round 6 of the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge.

“I wanted to go out and get a good lap right away,” said Bell, who is now only one pole behind Devon Powell on the all-time list, 13-12. “I thought my first flying lap was good enough for the pole – but then ‘good enough’ doesn’t always work. You always want to get the most out of the car.”

Bell will be joined on the front row by Hugh Plumb, who had a best lap of 57.755 seconds (95.368 mph) in the No. 13 Billfish Foundation/Rum Bum Film & HD Studios/RumBumGear.com Porsche 911. Plumb co-drives with his brother Matt, last year’s GS winner at Lime Rock.

Andrew Davis qualified third in the No. 6 Stevenson Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro Z/28.R with a lap of 57.908 seconds (95.116 mph), followed by Austin Cindric at 58.064 seconds (94.861 mph). Cindric became the youngest winner in series’ history when the 16-year-old joined Jade Buford at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in the No. 158 Ford Performance/Multimatic Ford Shelby GT350R-C.
