Brandon Jones’ Dominant Performance Foiled Late

After stealing the show on the final turn to win during his 2014 ARCA Racing Series driving debut at Winchester Speedway the tables were turned on young Brandon Jones during the final laps of Sunday’s Herr’s Chase the Taste 200 presented by Federated Auto Care.

Jones, who had dominate car throughout the afternoon, led 98 of 200 laps before relinquishing the lead to Austin Wayne Self on the final restart of the race with six laps remaining in Sunday’s classic. Jones who led the most laps finished third for his fourth top-5 of the season in six chances.

“I felt like we had the dominant car here all day,” Jones said. “It’s unfortunate when you lead all those laps and get out front and that happens, but it’s all good. We’ve had a really strong Ansell-Menards Toyota all season long and we showed that again today. It’s disappointing but we’ll pick up the pieces, move forward and head to Iowa in a couple of weeks.”

Since making his debut last season Jones continues to impress. In just nine series starts, the 18-year old driver has now scored seven top-5 and nine top-10 finishes overall – including back-to-back wins during his first two series events.

Jones, who shares the No.25 Ansell-Menards Toyota driving duties with Frank Kimmel will compete in the next two series events at Iowa Speedway and Lucas Oil Raceway. The two drivers have combined for seven top-5’s and nine top-10’s over the course of the first 11 races – placing the No.25 Toyota second overall in the ARCA owner point standings.
