Lira Returns To ARCA Series Action This Weekend At Winchester

Michael Lira will return to action this weekend for the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards Herr’s Chase The Taste 200 at Winchester Speedway. The 17-year old driver was forced to skip the past two series races due to track age restrictions, but he turns 18 in just three weeks, and plans to run all of the remaining races through the end of the season.

This will be Michael’s second visit to the 1/2 mile Winchester, Indiana track. In his first appearance there last year, he acclimated himself to the 31° banked corners quickly, posting the the fifth fastest time in practice. Ultimately, Michael’s race day ended early last year with a transmission issue.

“I couldn’t believe it,” Lira said last year.  “To come out and post the fifth fastest time in practice was a really good feeling.  It was literally my first time on the track! I’m excited to come back here next season though.”

When he gets to the track, Michael will be climbing back behind the wheel of his Lira Motorsports No. 58 Momo / Ford Performance / TraqGear Ford Fusion, which is now a race winning car in the ARCA Racing Series. Filling in for Michael at Chicagoland Speedway last week was Roush Fenway NASCAR Xfinity Series regular Ryan Reed, who took the car to victory lane in the Scott 150.

Michael Lira on racing at Winchester Speedway: “First, I want to congratulate Ryan Reed, as well as all of my Lira Motorsports crew that worked on his car, for their victory last week. It is truly a great accomplishment for our team, in our first year of ARCA competition.”

“Winchester is one of my favorite tracks on the schedule, and last year I had a lot of speed and ended up falling out of the race with a transmission issue. Hopefully this weekend can be the end of my bad luck streak and we can get win number two for the 58 crew.”
