Ryan Reed wins ARCA Scott 150 at Chicagoland Speedway

I’m pumped to get my first ARCA win and get Lira Motorsports their first win as well.”

 

Reed, who races full-time for Roush Fenway Racing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, is also the 15th different winner in 15 ARCA races at Chicagoland Speedway.

 

Reed started the 100-lap event from the 28th position after an incident in qualifying left major damage to the rear of the car, preventing him from completing a qualifying lap. The Lira Motorsports team repaired the damage to have the car race-ready just hours after the incident.

 

After taking the green flag on the 1.5-mile track, Reed quickly made his way through the field and into the fourth position by the Lap 12 caution flag.  

 

Reed quickly reported that the car was handling really well and thanked the team for the repairs they had made after qualifying.

 

The 21-year-old Bakersfield, Calif. native made his way up to the second position by the Lap 23 caution flag and took the lead on Lap 31. 

 

Crew chief Teddy Brown brought Reed down pit road for the team’s only pit stop of the day under caution on Lap 65. Reed’s Roush Fenway Racing XFINITY Series pit crew gave him four fresh tires and a full tank of fuel to complete the race at the head of the field.

 

Reed’s victory is his first in 15 starts in the ARCA Racing Series. His previous 14 starts came in 2012, with a best finish of fifth at Chicagoland. This was his first race in the driver’s seat for Lira Motorsports.
