HScott Motorsports Iowa Speedway Preview: Casey’s General Store 150

Iowa Speedway…The NASCAR K&N Pro Series East (NKNPSE) heads to Iowa Speedway this weekend for the fourth race of the 2015 season, the Casey’s General Store 150. This marks the first of two races in which the NKNPSE and the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West (NKNPSW) will compete against each other in the same event. William Byron enters the race as the NKNPSE Driver Point Standings leader after three races this season, coming off the heels of a runner-up finish at Bristol. Scott Heckert, J.J. Haley and Rico Abreu all looked to build upon strong top-10 runs at Bristol as they head into the fourth race of 2015, while Dalton Sargeant looks to recover from an early incident that hindered his overall finish at Bristol.

No. 5 J.J. Haley...Haley enters the Casey’s General Store 150 looking to build upon a solid outing at Bristol a few weeks earlier, coming home ninth. The 16-year-old gets set to make his second-career start at Iowa Speedway. In 2014, Haley made his second-ever NKNPSE start, bringing home a 20th-place finish at Iowa. The Indiana native heads into this weekend’s event sitting 13th in the NKNPSE Driver Point Standings and looks for his second-straight top-10 finish.

J.J. Haley on racing at Iowa Speedway this weekend:

“I’m really looking forward to getting on track at Iowa Speedway this weekend in the No. 5 Braun Auto Chevy. We had a great run a few weeks back in the ARCA Racing Series at Salem, and we’re coming off our top 10 at Bristol. I feel like we are in position to bring home another solid finish this weekend.”

No. 9 William Byron…Byron comes into the Casey’s General Store 150 on quite a hot streak. The 17-year-old recently was named a part of the 2015 NASCAR Next class. This comes on the heels of three-straight top-10 finishes to start the 2015 campaign, including a win at Greenville in his first-ever start at the 0.5-mile facility. Byron hopes for more of the same as he makes his first-career start at Iowa Speedway this weekend in the No. 9 Liberty University Chevrolet. The Charlotte native currently leads the NKNPSE Driver Point Standings.

William Byron on making his first-career start at Iowa Speedway:

“I’ve been excited to get to Iowa since we last raced at Bristol Motor Speedway, where we left with a runner-up finish. Iowa will be a new challenge having never been there previously, but I’m confident that my HScott Motorsports with Justin Marks and Liberty University team will bring a great racecar. I can’t wait to get to the track.”

No. 34 Scott Heckert...Heckert comes into the Casey’s General Store 150 looking to take advantage of past experience at Iowa Speedway. The 21-year-old is coming off a third-place finish at Bristol Motor Speedway a few weeks prior and looks to build upon his four career starts at Iowa Speedway. Through those four starts, Heckert has captured two top fives with a best finish of third in this event one season ago. Heckert enters the Casey’s General Store 150 sitting eighth in the 2015 NKNPSE Driver Point Standings.

Scott Heckert on returning to Iowa Speedway this weekend:

“Iowa has been one of my best tracks, and we had some great showings there last year. With the momentum we already have going, I think we can be a threat to pick up our first victory of 2015. I’m excited to get to the racetrack and get the No. 34 Project Lifesaver Chevy dialed in.”

No. 51 Dalton Sargeant...Sargeant gets set to make his first-career start at Iowa Speedway this weekend in the Casey’s General Store 150. Sargeant was recently named a member of the 2015 NASCAR Next class following a strong start to the 2015 season that saw him compile four starts throughout the NKNPSE and NKNPSW with no finish worse than fourth. Sargeant looks to get back on track this weekend at Iowa following an unfortunate finish at Bristol after a wreck caused his day to end early. The Florida native enters the Casey’s General Store 150 sitting seventh in the NKNPSE Driver Point Standings.

Dalton Sargeant on racing at Iowa Speedway this weekend:

“I’m really looking forward to getting back in the No. 51 GALT HScott Motorsports with Justin Marks machine and heading to Iowa this weekend. My crew chief Kris Bowen has a really good handle on Iowa Speedway with a pole award there in 2014 and some great finishes, so we’re definitely confident that we’ll be a contender at the end of the race. I’ve never seen the track before and we are pretty limited on track time, so our focus will be to get me comfortable in the car and run as many laps in practice as possible. After a bad run at Bristol, we’ll hopefully try and utilize a good finish at Iowa Speedway to get back into the championship hunt.”

No. 98 Rico Abreu…Abreu comes into the Casey’s General Store 150 looking to continue his recent string of success in the NKNPSE. The 23-year-old was recently named to the new NASCAR Next class, joining teammates Byron and Sargeant.  Abreu is coming off the heels of two-straight top-10 finishes at Greenville and Bristol. Abreu looks for more of the same as the California native gets set to make his first-career start at Iowa Speedway. Abreu enters the Casey’s General Store 150 sitting ninth in the NKNPSE Driver Point Standings.

Rico Abreu on making his first start at Iowa Speedway this weekend:

“I’m looking forward to racing Iowa this weekend in my No. 98 GoProMotorplex/AccuDoc Solutions/Curb Records Chevy. Everyone at HScott Motorsports with Justin Marks has been working hard to get our cars ready for this weekend. I’m interested to see how different the flange fit bodies will be compared to steel bodies. The race should be a lot of fun.”

The Casey’s General Store 150 will take place this Saturday, May 16 at 8:00 p.m. CDT. The race can be seen on NBCSN on Thursday, May 21 at a time still to be determined.
