Both of Robinson Racing’s drivers qualified in the top 5 yesterday in the TA2 Class of the Trans Am Series. Shane Lewis, in the No. 72 Chevrolet Camaro sponsored by 74 Ranch Racing, earned the second spot, while Gar Robinson, in the No. 74 Chevrolet Camaro sponsored by 74 Ranch Racing, secured P5.
Practice and qualifying sessions continued at Homestead-Miami Speedway today, but in the “Fast Five” qualifying format, the top 5 positions are locked in for Sunday’s Muscle Car Challenge. With a Dodge Challenger in the pole position, Lewis’ Chevrolet Camaro in second, and a Ford Mustang in third, fans will be treated to a “Big Three” competition like no other.
Joining a strong contingent of native Floridian drivers who qualified up front yesterday, Lewis is a longtime resident of Jupiter, Florida, in Palm Beach County. Although he has raced at Homestead-Miami Speedway many times in his career, he is considered a rookie, as this is his first time racing in the Trans Am Series. San Antonio native, Gar Robinson kicked off his 2015 Trans Am season with a second place finish at Sebring International Raceway in the TA2 Class on March 1, 2015. In tomorrow’s Pony Wars, he looks to defeat the Sunshine State racers and take the winner’s trophy home to Texas.
Round 2 of the 2015 Trans Am season features the first ever independent race for the TA2 Class, the Muscle Car Challenge, at Homestead-Miami Speedway, on April 12, 2015 at 12:25 pm EDT. The TA and TA3 Class race follows at 2:45 pm EDT. For more information, visit www.gotransam.com.
