NASCAR Mexico Series returns to NBC Universo as it heads to San Luis Potosi for Potosino 200

NBC UNIVERSO,the modern general entertainment cable channel for Latinos, today announced that the second stop of the NASCAR Mexico Series is a return home to San Luis Potosí, Mexico for the Potosino 200, and will air live on NBC UNIVERSO this Sunday, April 12 beginning at 3:00 PM ET / 12:00 PM PT.

The Mexico Series, which is known for its dent-swapping style of driving, has become a battle ground of sorts for many young, talented and up-and-coming drivers looking to progress through the NASCAR ranks. The series is gaining in popularity and attracts fans throughout the United States and Mexico.

The Potosino 200 provides many of these racers with an opportunity to showcase their talents in front of “hometown” supporters. Mexican-born driver Rubén Pardo is no exception. During the Toyota 120 at Phoenix International Raceway, the first and only race in the NASCAR Mexico series that takes place outside Mexico, Pardo led more than two-thirds of the race to eventually take the checkered flag. He’s definitely looking to continue his winning ways at Autódromo Potosino, the half-mile oval racetrack located in San Luis Potosí.

However, drivers Rafael Martinez and Ruben Garcia say, “not so fast.” The Potosino 200 will mark a hopeful return to the winner’s circle for either driver as both had a difficult race season last year. The silver lining for Martinez and Garcia is that they both have had good fortune competing in this race. Garcia earned the coveted pole position in past races; while Martinez took home the checkered flag in 2012. He posted second place finishes in 2013 and 2014.

The NASCAR Mexico Series has proven to one of Mexico’s foremost motorsports series. Within the past five years, NASCAR has retained a commitment to diversity on and off the track by creating programs that authentically and organically reach the Latino community.
