Summit Bracket Racing Series Presented by COMPCams Battles Resume at Memphis International Raceway

With the Summit Bracket Racing Series presented by COMPCams returning from its winter break on Saturday, the racers in those classes resume their chase for the 2015 Memphis International Raceway (MIR) track championship.

Two events are already in the books and Rusty Ashmore and Leigh Hubbard each have a win in Rick’s Powder Coating Super Pro. Ashmore has the class lead with 142 points with Hubbard second, 20 points behind and Shane Stout one point behind Hubbard.

The competition in the B&B Towing Footbrake class is just as close with John Castellaw III holding a 20 point lead on Caffey Broadus. Kenny Bomar is in third, 21 points behind the leader.

Billy Foster Sr. is already a two-time winner this season in the R.T. Turbines DOT class. That has given him 144 points on the season and a 33 point advantage on second-place Cliff Hubbard. David Elam is in third place with 80 points.

In the R.T. Turbines Junior Dragster competition, Justin Poindexter is the leader with 134 points, Tyler Poindexter is second with 92 and Tara Taylor and Devin Johnson are battling for third with 80 point apiece.

MIR has also added a racer fund for the 2015 season that will be supported by races within the race. This week during the second time trial, there will be a Run for the Money. Racers pay a $10 fee to enter with the winner taking home half the pot and the other adding to the season-ending Race Fund.

The battle for supremacy in the Summit Bracket Racing Series presented by COMPCams resumes on Saturday, March 21. The quarter-mile Top ET class begins its season as does the 6.0 and 7.0 classes. Gates open at 4 p.m. and racing starts at 5 p.m.
