SVRA Cancels Southern Vintage Classic Due to Winter Storms

The Sportscar Vintage Racing Association (SVRA) Southern Vintage Classic at Road Atlanta has been cancelled for this weekend, February 20-22.

With winter storm watches issued for portions of north Georgia extending through Saturday, the Braselton, Ga. race track is expecting more sub-freezing temperatures, extremely low wind chills and potential additional snow and sleet. Ice accumulations from earlier this week are still present around the race track and with temperatures not predicted to rise about freezing until Friday evening, the weather warnings are expected to persist.

Extreme conditions have extended throughout the east coast and many SVRA competitors were unable to leave their home bases to reach Road Atlanta for this weekend’s event.

SVRA has decided that with the safety concerns that come along with the severe winter weather forecasted for this weekend, cancelling this event is in the best interests of all spectators, teams, volunteers and staff.

All ticket buyers for the Southern Vintage Classic will receive full refunds on their ticket purchases.

The Sportscar Vintage Racing Association’s next scheduled event is the Spring Vintage Classic at Sebring International Raceway, February 26-March 1.
