Field of Over 100 Cars Entered for Pirelli World Challenge 2015 Season Opener at COTA

WC Vision today released the official entry list for the Pirelli World Challenge 2015 season opener, March 6-8, at the Circuit of The Americas. With one month to go before the race weekend, over 100 cars are entered over the series’ seven classes.

“Over the last number of years, we have worked diligently to execute a plan for overall series growth and I’m happy that we are reaching the goals set out in that plan,” said Scott Bove, President and CEO, WC Vision/Pirelli World Challenge. “Having over 100 cars entered for our first race of the season is a testament to our hard work and we look forward to continuing that work to further grow the series.”

“With 60 cars entered in the GT, GT Cup and GTS classes we are pleased to see the continued growth from 2014,” noted Greg Gill, Vice President General Manager, WC Vision/Pirelli World Challenge.

In the overall Touring Car field, 40 cars are entered for COTA with 18 in the Touring Car specific class, a jump of over 150 percent from 2014.

“The recent growth in car counts is a combination of the manufacturers, PWC and our teams working much more closely together,” said Pirelli World Challenge Competition Director, Marcus Haselgrove. “Coming out of our meetings at PRI (Performance Racing Industry show) with manufacturers and teams, we have over 30 new cars entered for 2015. I’m especially happy to see the results across the board in the Touring Car classes for 2015.”
