Kaleb Johnson Primed for World of Outlaws Weekend at Knoxville Raceway

Kaleb Johnson is hoping Mother Nature plays nice this weekend after raining out the Knoxville Raceway season opener last Saturday.

The racing plan is to tackle a World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series doubleheader at the dirt track in Knoxville, Iowa, on Friday and Saturday.

“I’m excited for it,” he said. “Hopefully the weather holds off and we can make some laps. I’m expecting 50 to 60 cars there both nights. I think a realistic goal is to try to make the A Main each night. Starting off the year at Knoxville against the Outlaws will be tough. To roll it into the trailer after making the A Main is a good goal for our team.”

Johnson was able to do just that last June when he earned a spot into the feature and placed a then career-best 18 th during the second night of a two-day World of Outlaws event at ‘The Sprint Car Capital of the World’ while making a rare appearance driving for TKS Motorsports.

“I think if anything it’s a little confidence booster that I can do it,” he said. “I just need to have everything fall into place. We need a good night with no major issues.”

The objective of the weekend is simply to gain experience.

“Any time you race those guys, I don’t have the experience or laps they do, if all goes well it’s a huge boost,” Johnson said. “All races, no matter good or bad, you are getting experience, knowledge, notes. There’s always things you can learn from and improve on.”
