NKNPSW: Nick Drake Captures Casino Arizona 100 Pole

Nick Drake captured the pole for tonight’s Casino Arizona 100 at the Phoenix International Raceway after a fast lap of 27.316 seconds. Tonight will mark the 18-year-old’s second career start in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West division. Drake ran full-time in the East division in 2014, earning four top-five and eight top-10 finishes.

Starting from the runner-up position will be Kyle Benjamin after running a fast lap of 27.331 seconds. Benjamin, who is 16-years-old, will be making his first career start in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West division. He has four starts over in the East division, including a top-five in 2013. Benjamin was 0.015 seconds slower than Drake.

Jesse Little, who is making his fourth career K&N Pro Series West start, will roll from the third starting spot. Little posted a time of 27.332 seconds during his two laps of qualifying this afternoon. It marks the fourth time that he will start an event from inside the top-10.

Greg Pursley, who currently leads the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West standings by 21 points over Dylan Lupton, will start from 11th. Lupton will need to finish 22 spots ahead of Pursley if he wants to be the 2014 champion. He will start the Casino Arizona 100 from ninth.
