Back behind the wheel: Patrick Lemarie returns to Academy / Alex Caffi Motorsports - Speedway Digest

Patrick Lemarie will return to the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series for the 2024 season after a one-year hiatus to re-join Academy / Alex Caffi Motorsports. The Frenchman will drive the #1 Ford Mustang for the Italian-Monegasque joint venture led by Federico Monti and former Formula One driver Alex Caffi. The 56-year-old Andorra resident will look to regain momentum after winning the EuroNASCAR PRO season 2022 finale in Croatia and make a run at Europe’s premier NASCAR Championship.

Lemarie entered the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series in 2020 with his close friend Jacques Villeneuve and joined Academy / Alex Caffi Motorsports for the 2022 season. He finished seventh following a tremendous season finale at Grobnik with two podium finishes, including his first race win in EuroNASCAR PRO. Having taken a break from NASCAR racing in 2023, Lemarie is eager to pick up where he left and have a say in the battle for the top-5 spots in the overall standings.

“I won the last race in EuroNASCAR PRO and it was a good end to the 2022 season, but I want to win again. I’m really looking forward to driving a EuroNASCAR car again and my goal is to give the young generation in the championship a hard time,” he said. “I’m really enjoying racing with Academy / Alex Caffi Motorsports and it’s always great to spend time with Federico and Alex’s team during race weekends. I’m happy to be back.”

As the mastermind behind FEED Racing, a driver academy based in France, Lemarie has plenty to do in motorsport in the 2024 season, but he will also focus on being competitive from the first race of the season. He joins Vladimiros Tziortzis and Claudio Remigio Cappelli, who will share the #5 car for the joint venture. The team has not yet announced a EuroNASCAR 2 driver for the #1 Ford Mustang.

The 2024 NASCAR Whelen Euro Series kicks off April 13-14 at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, Spain. All races will be broadcast live on the EuroNASCAR YouTube channel and on numerous television networks around the world.
