SCCA Runoffs Live Webcast Features Motorsports Heavy Hitters

Those who cannot make the trip west to the SCCA® National Championship Runoffs® this October can watch all of the action from wherever they may be on SpeedCastTV.com, with an all-star cast of broadcasters calling the action.
The cast, calling all 27 National Championship races at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca live, features a host of familiar faces to SCCA stalwarts and the motorsports industry at large.

Greg Creamer and Jeff Lepper, the voices of the Pirelli World Challenge webcast, will pair up for half the races, while the remaining calls will go to the team of Rick Benjamin and Randy Pobst. SCCA staff member, and renowned Tire Rack SCCA Solo voice, Heyward Wagner will join the team from pit lane and victory circle.

“The SpeedCastTV webcast has evolved into something revered by both the Club and the industry,” Eric Prill, SCCA VP, Marketing and Communications, said. “We once again have a team of broadcasters that is among the most respected in road racing, and we’re thrilled to again work with Clark Cambern and the entire SpeedCast crew for the sixth-straight year.”

The experience both Creamer and Benjamin bring to the broadcast runs the gamut of professional motorsports, from NASCAR to MotoGP, and nearly every road racing series televised. Creamer has been an SCCA member for more than 25 years and has broadcast experience in many forms of motorsports, but has become a Runoffs staple as a play-by-play announcer. Benjamin was a staple of the SCCA Trans-Am Series and teamed with Pobst for the SCCA Pro Racing Mazda MX-5 Cup Presented by BFGoodrich Tires, and has called multiple Runoffs himself.

Pobst is one of the most decorated drivers in SCCA history, winning National Championships at the Runoffs and the Tire Rack Solo National Championships, as well as multiple Championships in Pirelli World Challenge. Lepper joined the Runoffs team in 2013 in addition to his Pirelli World Challenge duties and has been an SCCA member since his childhood, with plenty of wheel-to-wheel experience at the Club and Pro level. Wagner, a long time announcing voice in the SCCA Solo community and a lifetime SCCA member, joins the Runoffs on-air talent for the first time in 2014.

Those at the track during the races will once again hear John Fippin on the public address feed. Fippin has been the on-site voice of the Runoffs for every event since 1994, when the event was first held at his home track, Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

The 2014 SCCA National Championship Runoffs at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca begins with qualifying sessions for each of the 27 classes each day from Tuesday, October 7 through Thursday, October 9. Friday, Saturday and Sunday feature the National Championship Runoffs races, with each one broadcast live. Following the event, each race will be available on demand.
