Rowdy stays hot with win at “The Zoo”

Kyle Busch picked up his third consecutive Super Late Model victory over the last three weeks Tuesday night, winning the Boyne Machine 100 ARCA/CRA Super Series Late Model race at Kalamazoo (Mich.) Speedway.

Despite racing at “The Zoo” for the first time, Busch set a new track record in qualifying when he toured the 3/8-mile oval in 12.527 seconds.  After the invert, he started the 100-lap event from the ninth position and then during the first half of the he methodically maneuvered his way towards the front of the field.

By lap 10, Rowdy had advanced up to the sixth spot and on lap 20 was scored in the third spot.  On lap 52, the Las Vegas native put his Rheem/Young Supply Camry out front for the first time and despite a strong challenge from ARCA/CRA Series regular Johnny Van Doorn, remained out front for the final 49 laps.

“These ARCA/CRA Super Series races are so much fun to run — it was another great crowd and (Johnny) Van Doorn gave us a run for our money tonight,” Busch said. “It was cool to have Rheem onboard here in Kalamazoo, considering this is where their home office originated back in the 70’s.  I can’t thank all the guys at KBM for giving me another fast Camry and everyone at KBM Chassis for building such a great piece that we’ve been able to win a lot of races with the last couple years.”
