Ruston finishes ninth IN the bully Hill 125 at watkins Glen International

Kenzie Ruston brought home the No. 96 Bully Hill Vineyards Chevrolet in ninth position, after starting nineteenth, in the Bully Hill Vineyards 125 at Watkins Glen International. The finish was far from easy; Ruston and her Ben Kennedy Racing team battled adversity all afternoon, and survived two late restarts to bring home their seventh top-10 of the year.

The team had a transmission failure early in the first practice session, limiting Ruston to only 14 laps of practice on the technically demanding Watkins Glen International. The second practice was ended prematurely when Ruston had an incident in the Bus Stop.

“My guys never gave up all day,” said Ruston. “We lost the transmission, and then had the incident in the bus stop and they had to repair the back of the car to get it ready for qualifying. It’s a testament to the entire team that they were able to put it back together, and fight hard all day. They never give up on me and it means the world to have a group like that behind me.”

“It was a tough day for the team,” said Team Principal Ben Kennedy. “Kenzie and the guys dug deep and didn’t give up on it and they came away with a top-10 finish. When you have a day full of adversity and you still come out of it with a solid finish, you can be satisfied, that’s what champions are made of. Hopefully the bad luck is out of the way and they can go on to Virginia International Raceway next weekend and bring home the win.

“It was great to have Bully Hill Vineyards on the car this weekend,” said Kennedy. “They were a great partner to work with, and we can’t thank them enough for their support. Lillian Taylor is a great lady, and she has a burning passion for NASCAR, and motor sports in general. Hopefully we can partner with Bully Hill in the future.”

As a result of the ninth place finish, Ruston finds herself in seventh in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East standings, 16 points out of fifth place. Kenzie Ruston has seven-top-10 finishes and three-top-5 finishes this season.
