Veach wins pole for Pocono Indy Lights 100

Andretti Autosport driver Zach Veach earned the pole for the Pocono Indy Lights 100 with a two-lap average of 184.438 mph. Veach is currently tied for the points lead with Gabby Chaves, but Chaves has the upper hand with three wins this season to Veach’s two.

Chaves qualified fourth at 184.224 mph after being the fastest driver in the only Indy Lights practice this morning.  The Belardi Racing driver finished third last year in the race and will look to find victory lane.

Rookie Jack Harvey put up the second quickest time at 184.394 mph.  Another rookie, Luis Razia, qualified third in his Sam Schmidt Motorsports entry.

Chaves and Matthew Brabham rounded out the top five.  Brabham is looking to rebound after losing control of his car coming onto pit road and suffered some right front damage.

Veach, Chaves and Juan Pablo Garcia all ran last year’s Pocono Indy Lights 100. Garcia will roll off sixth out of eight cars.

Rookies Juan Piedrahita and Scott Anderson round out the eight-car field.
