SERKET Racing participates in The Glen’s Veteran Corner Program at Watkins Glen

SERKET Racing is back on the ground as it heads to Watkins Glen International for Rounds 6 and 7 of the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama on June 26-28. Last year, driver Mark Llano drove two clean races and finished 13th and 16th overall with a personal best lap time of 1 minute, 57.810 seconds.

The historic 3.4-mile, 11-turn road course, located just off Seneca Lake, was the first track to host a post-World War II road race event in the U.S. Since then,The Glen, as it is commonly called, has continued to support veterans of the U.S. military, making the venue a perfect fit for the SERKET Racing team mission.

“The history of Watkins Glen is amazing,” Llano said. “It’s very symbolic when you think about it. Through grit, determination and sacrifice, World War II’s greatest generation showed the rest of the world what America was made of, and even today you can still feel their presence at this track. So it’s no surprise that of all the races we compete at over the course of a season, Watkins Glen is one of the most supportive of our veterans and active duty military.”

In addition to competing in both races of the series, former Marine Llano will appear at The Glen’s Veteran Corner with his No. 24 Multicam-wrapped Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car on Sunday, June 29.

“SERKET Racing is honored to take part in The Glen’s Veteran Corner program again this year,” said Llano. “We’re very thankful to have the opportunity to meet the veterans and their families who inspired us to start SERKET Racing in the first place. It’s going to be a great event!”

The Glen’s Veteran Corner will feature community organizations that serve veterans and their families, free children’s activities, a military car corral with different military vehicles on display and a free picnic style lunch with door prizes. All activities are free to veterans and service members and a guest. All people under the age of 19 also are free.

SERKET’s race weekend starts  with two practice sessions Thursday, June 26 at Watkins Glen International. Qualifying for the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama series will begin on at 9:35 a.m. (ET) Friday, June 27 with two 45-minute races following. Race 1 will begin at 3:10 p.m. Friday, and Race 2 starts at 6:45 p.m. Saturday.
