Brodie Rallies Late to Finish 12th at Bristol

After learning experiences in the first two NASCAR K&N Pro Series East events of the 2014 season in February, Kostecki and the team started getting their season back in the right direction in the PittLite 125 at Tennessee’s Bristol Motor Speedway. After starting 21st, Kostecki was able to methodically work his way through the field despite a car that was not handling at its peak throughout the 125-lap event.

With some adjustments called for by crew chief Doug George, the Arcoplate No. 43 made a late rally and nearly got into the top-10 before running out of laps. Kostecki finished 12th and now hopes to continue momentum that was built up at Bristol deep into the season.

“We definitely struggled through practice,” said Kostecki after the race. “I just didn’t get the feel that I wanted and the front end wasn’t right. Even at the first part of the race, we struggled with a tight racecar, but Doug made some great calls and we moved forward.

“I started moving up and got close to the top-10 and just got held up. The track groove was just one lane today, it was pretty much just the middle to the top. And as soon as you got to the inside of somebody, you just lost all of the momentum.  Still, it was a solid day for us.  We want to be competing for wins.  As long as we keep making gains, I know we’ll be getting the results that these Arcoplate guys deserve real soon.”

Looking back on his first experience at Bristol Motor Speedway, Kostecki knew that “Thunder Valley” would take a little getting used to.

“This place is tough when you first go out there for your first lap,” said Kostecki. “You take your first corner and your body just doesn’t want to go around the corner.  I’m not satisfied with how the car ran, but the guys work hard in the shop and we’re going to try and move forward from this and hopefully get a great finish at Greenville.”

The next K&N Pro Series East event will be at 8pm ET on Saturday, March 22 at the historic half-mile Greenville Pickens Speedway in South Carolina.
