Germán Quiroga to Appear as Special Guest Commentator for NASCAR Mexico Toyota Series

Germán Quiroga, driver of Red Horse Racing’s No. 77 OtterBox/NET10 Wireless Toyota Tundra, will appear as a special guest commentator for the Deportes Telemundo broadcast of the Toyota 120 on Friday, Feb. 28. The Toyota 120 opens the 2014 NASCAR Mexico Toyota Series season at Phoenix International Raceway. It is the first of 15 events on the 2014 schedule and the only race that will take place in the United States.

Quiroga, a three-time champion in the Mexico Toyota Series, will offer valuable commentary based on his experience racing in NASCAR’s international series. The Mexico City native is the only driver in series’ history to capture three consecutive championship titles (2009, 2010 and 2011). In 2012 he made the move from Mexico to the United States, and is on track to make his mark as a Hispanic in the top levels of NASCAR.

Quiroga began his second full season of competition in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and with Red Horse Racing with a top-10 finish in the season-opening race at Daytona International Speedway on Friday, Feb. 21. In his 2013 rookie season, he claimed two top-five and six top-10 finishes, as well as a pole award at Iowa Speedway, becoming the first Mexican-born driver to earn the honor in NASCAR’s three premier series.

Quiroga will join Jessi Losada, Omar Amador and Yarel Ramos in the broadcast booth during the second-half of Friday night’s 120-lap race. The Toyota 120 is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. EST and will be telecast nationally in the United States on mun2as a production of Deportes Telemundo. Telemundo and mun2 are NBCUniversal-owned networks.
