Team Hornaday Development has announced that 20-year-old Jimmy Renfrew Jr. will compete full-time in the zMAX CARS Tour Pro Late Model series in 2024.
The up-and-coming talent will pilot the Renfrew Motorsports No. 00 Toyota Camry with Jeff Labrecque as his crew chief.
“I am grateful to be a part of Jimmy’s next step as he rolls into the Cars Tour Season and I think that it will be a unique challenge. We will often be at new tracks that we have not even stepped foot in before as well as working with a new car and rules package that we aren’t 100% accustomed to yet, all of this on top of being 1000 miles from our home race shop in New Hampshire,” Labrecque said. “However, I am confident that if we work hard and utilize all of our resources, most of this “new” stuff will normalize and just like every track in New England, our competitors will know we are there.
R & R Race Parts N.H. and Renfrew Motorsports will support the rising star for his 2024 campaign.
“I’m feeling pretty excited to take on a bunch of new tracks. This gives me a lot of opportunities to learn different driving techniques and speeds,” Renfrew Jr. said. “Something else I am excited about is the new ownership group (Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jeff Burton, Kevin Harvick and Justin Marks). They have all competed at the professional level and understand how the series should run.”
Renfrew Jr. is not the only one eagerly awaiting competition in the series. Labrecque also shares his excitement as they gear up for the new season.
“The biggest thing I look forward to this year, like I always do, is going to the track with a driver that is going to be fast. I know that if we do our job and give Jimmy a good piece, we are going to be at the top of the board and be a threat. Our goal is to show up prepared, and to be in contention for the win every week,” Labrecque said.
Renfrew Jr. a multi-race winner and champion in numerous series also plans to race in the Pro All Stars Series (PASS), American Canadian Tour (ACT), JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour and CARS Tour West during a busy 2024 season.
