Little charges into Ohio with momentum on his side

Third generation NASCAR driver, Jesse Little, used a solid top-3 finish in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series most recent event to sit just outside the top-10 drivers in the series championship points standings. Facing yet another new track for the driver of the NASCAR Technical Institute Chevrolet, Little aims to keep pushing towards more runs in the front of the field and see what the net results may hold for continued success.

“Columbus appears to be similar to Langley, Little said. “I’ve talked with several drivers and it’s going to drive like a typical short track where forward bite will be the key. Our short track set-up is good as we have shown at Langley and Bowman Gray of late.”

Recent finishes at Bowman Gray and Langley have boosted the spirits of the team and gained a new friend in momentum, he added.

“Mighty Mo is my friend. We’ve run good all year, mostly in top five, but our finishes have not been where they need to be. Our Langley and Bowman Gray finishes were much needed and the momentum they gave the team will help moving forward.”

With the goal of running for a championship in the K&N Pro Series and capturing this year’s Rookie of the Year title, Little’s tough outings prior to his recent events have put the team on a new path.

“We’re not points racing at this stage of the season. We’re out to win and that’s right around the corner. Winning is key to continued success,” Little noted.

To contend for a victory keying on the strength of his Coulter Motorsports team, qualifying set-ups, will be needed again this weekend. With a starting position in the front of a tight field the potential to race with the leaders and reach for the checkered flag is very real, according to the 16-year old.

“Our goal is to sit on the pole and lead every lap. If we’re in that position that’s what I’ll shoot for. If the car is off then we adjust (our strategy) and evaluate the race at that point. We definitely want to qualify up front.”

While much work has been put into Little’s Performance Friction Brakes Impala in the attention to details while in the shop, it’s one if his primary sponsors that has also been key to the recent turnaround, he explained.

“All of our sponsors help to build a successful race team. The NASCAR Technical Institute is one of our primary sponsors. They help us with our engines, engine maintenance and rebuilds. We work with them and their students and help them get job experience. It’s a good relationship as John Dodson manages the NASCAR side and he’s been involved in racing all of his life. This is NTI’s 10th anniversary and I’m proud to be associated with it. The program is a great source of assistance to our team and their students.”

NASCAR K&N Pro Series action for the NAPA 150 gets underway Saturday afternoon with two practice sessions followed by qualifying at 6 p.m. EST. The green flag is set to fly at Columbus Motor Speedway at 8:45.
