@LangleySpeedway launches “Pink Project” to support breast cancer awareness!

Langley Speedway is excited to announce the “Langley Speedway Pink Project” event that will be held on Saturday, October 5th during the Modified Madness Night at the racetrack. Vaughan Crittenden, who is a Winged Champ Kart racer at Langley Speedway, proposed the idea to the track after his mom was diagnosed at 44 yrs. old with an early stage breast cancer in October 2012. The fundraising for the event kicks off Saturday, June 22nd during the K&N Pro Series race, Langley Speedway’s hottest racing event during the season. People attending the K&N race will have the opportunity to write a message on the 30’ piece of hot pink vinyl in exchange for a donation towards the cause. The custom designed logo for the event will also be made public.

Throughout the summer, Vaughan Crittenden and his mom, Jenny Crittenden, will be at Langley Speedway in a booth selling T-shirts for the event, car decals, raffle tickets and continuing to have people sign the hot pink banner that will be hung in Victory Lane during the October 5th event. Activities for the “Pink Project” event will include a track walk to raise money that will welcome breast cancer survivors and those that walk in memory of a breast cancer fighter. There will be a raffle to include items from racing teams and local businesses and a fan zone for families. All proceeds from the event will be given to a local 501c3 charity related to breast cancer. All racers that evening are encourage to “go pink” for the night in support of the event and the many women who have battled breast cancer.

Many plans are still being made and volunteers are needed! If you’d like to help out the night of October 5th, please contact Vaughan Crittenden at [email protected] or call (804) 832-5201. Be sure to follow the event plans through the facebook page, The Langley Pink Project or via the track’s website at www.langley-speedway.com.
