NCWTS: Dice Lands on Jones for Las Vegas Victory
Erik Jones captured the victory Saturday night at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway by leading 19 of the 146 laps of the Rhino Liners 350K. The victory gives the 18-year-old his second of the season and his third in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. He started the event from the 13th-position.
Darrell Wallace Jr., who is a teammate of Jones, came home in the runner-up spot. Wallace led the most laps of the evening but fell shy of scoring his third win of the year. He earned his 10th top-10 finish this season after the strong night. The 20-year-old was 1.329 seconds behind his teammate when the race ended.
Matt Crafton, who leaves the Las Vegas Motor Speedway with a 19-point lead over Johnny Sauter, came home with the third-place finishing position. With the crazy battle to lead a lap all night long, he was able to lead just four of those. His teammate, Sauter, finished 14th and one lap down.
Brian Ickler, who made his first start tonight since the Charlotte Motor Speedway in May, came home in fourth. Ickler had to leave the No. 7 because of a lack of funding that only lasted for the first four races. It was his second top-10 finish of the year and the first inside the top-five.
Brian Silas was another driver who had a fantastic evening despite bringing out the second caution of the night on lap 13. After using pit strategy, Silas was able to snatch a 12-place finishing position. Tonight marked his fifth top-15 finish of the year.
Jason White was hoping to have a much better outcome in his No. 20 GunBroker.com Chevrolet than he did. After not making the final round of knockout qualifying, he started the Rhino Liners 350K from 21st. Bad luck struck him on lap 55 after he smacked the wall because he mis-judged a truck attempting to come down pit road and ended his night. He'll go home with a 23rd-place finish and 91 laps down.
The next race for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will be at the Talladega Super Speedway on Oct. 18. You can catch the race live on FOX Sports 1 at 1:00 p.m. Et. The Motor Racing Network will carry the live radio broadcast of the Fred's 250.
NCWTS: Blaney Scores Las Vegas Pole
The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series took to the 1.5-mile Las Vegas Motor Speedway for three rounds of qualifying. When it was all over, Ryan Blaney ended up with the pole for the Rhino Liners 350K. He posted a 30.722 second lap with about one minute remaining.
Starting from second will be Darrell Wallace Jr. after posting a fast time of 30.763 seconds, 175.536 mph. The second starting spot will mark the 12th time of this year that Wallace will roll off from the top-10. He hopes this starting spot will help him as he seeks his third career win of the year.
Taylor Malsam, who posted his best career starting position in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, will start from third. The Michigan International Speedway in August was the last time that Malsam started a race from the top-10. He posted a time of 30.850 seconds, 175.041 mph.
There was only one on-track incident that occured during the three rounds of knockout qualifying. The incident happened during the second round of qualifying when John Wes Townley spun. With only five trucks posting a time when the red was displayed, there was much confusion on which drivers advanced. Some trucks was still able to get past the line who stayed out onto the track when the accident happend and was able to complete a lap when the 18 seconds expired.
NCWTS: Las Vegas Motor Speedway preview
The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will roll the dice right into the Las Vegas Motor Speedway this weekend. The event, which will mark the 18th annual Rhino Linings 350, will mark the 17th stop of the year for the tour. It holds as the furthest race out west for the series.
Some of the drivers you'll see this weekend, include: Brian Ickler, Jimmy Weller, Ron Hornaday Jr., Tyler Reddick, Jason White, Spencer Gallagher, Taylor Malsam, Charles Lewandoski and Erik Jones.
Last weekend out at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Cole Custer became the youngest winner in the top-three NASCAR national series. At Loudon, Custer captured the pole and posted a new track record, led 148 of the 175 laps and held off the defending champion Matt Crafton to capture the win. Back in June at the Gateway Motorsports Park, Custer made history by being the youngest pole winner in NASCAR. He has two races remaining on this year's calender, which will be at the Martinsville Speedway and the Phoenix Raceway.
The points continue to be stalled after last weekend's event at Loudon. Matt Crafton and Johnny Sauter, who are both teammates at ThorSport Racing, head into the Las Vegas Motor Speedway with a seven point gap. Ryan Blaney, who sits in the third spot, currently sits 17-points behind Sauter in second. This weekend will certainly be interesting to see how the points will shake out.
Timothy Peters will head into Las Vegas as the defending race winner and looks to score a back-to-back victory on Saturday. Peters, who is winless in 2014, comes into the weekend with four top-10 finishes in six starts at the 1.5-mile oval. The last time that the driver finished inside the top-five was in July at the Kentucky Speedway.

NCWTS: Cole Custer Grabs First Career Win
Cole Custer captured his first career NASCAR Camping World Truck Series victory on Saturday at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway after a dominating performance after starting from the pole. Custer led 148 of the 175 laps during the afternoon. He did get shuffled back into the seventh spot after a late pit stop, but the last caution with nine laps left, helped the 16-year-old out to score the win.
Coming home with the second spot was Darrell Wallace Jr. after having a very good day behind the wheel of his No. 54 Toyota. Wallace was unable to lead any laps but gave Custer a run for his money in the closing laps. Today afternoon was Wallace's sixth top-five finish of the 2014 season and the fourth time that he has finished in the runner-up spot. He lost the race by 1.149 seconds.
Current NASCAR Camping World Truck Series points leader, Matt Crafton, found himself in the lead for the final restart but couldn't get going. This caused him to lose two positions to bring home a third-place finishing effort. Crafton had to start the race in the back due to having an electrical problem during the first round of qualifying and wasn't able to turn a lap. The finish will give him a five point lead over teammate Johnny Sauter.
Sauter, who sits second in the points steandings, will leave New Hampshire with a fourth-place finish. Sauter failed to make the final round of knockout qualifying and had to start this event from 18th. It was the eighth time of the year that he finished a race inside the top-five.
The next race for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will be at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Sept. 27. You can watch the race live at 9:00 p.m. Et. on FOX Sports 1. The Motor Racing Network will carry the live radio broadcast.
NCWTS: Custer Scores Pole for UNOH 175 at New Hampshire
Cole Custer captured the pole for Saturday's UNOH 175 at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway with a fast lap of 28.877 seconds, 131.897 mph. Custer will start on the pole for the second time of his NASCAR Camping World Truck Series career. He hopes that this will help him earn his first top-five as he has driven to four top-10's in six starts.
Cameron Hayley, who will roll off from the second starting spot, will be making just his second career start in the series. Hayley posted his fast time of 28.933 seconds, 131.642 mph. This will be the second time that he has qualified inside the top-10. The last time out at the Canadian Tire Motorsports Park, Hayley drove to a 11th-place finish, and hopes to even better that today. He was 0.056 seconds slower than Custer.
Darrell Wallace Jr. will start the UNOH 175 from the third spot after posting a fast time of 29.021 seconds, 131.243 mph. This will be the 10th time of the 2014 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season that Wallace started from inside the top-10. With the New Hampshire Motor Speedway being much like the Gateway Motorsports Park, Wallace has some momentum as he captured the win there back in June. Given this, He'll definately be a threat in the race today afternoon.
No on-track incidents occured during the two rounds of knockout qualifying. There will be no cars going home as only 30 showed up to race. Matt Crafton, who leads the driver points going into this event, will start in the back due to not making a qualifying attempt. Crafton's truck had an electrical issue and wasn't able to turn a lap.
NCWTS: New Hampshire Motor Speedway Preview
The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will head to the New Hampshire Motor Speedway for the 17th running of the UNOH 175. This marks the first time since 2011 that the series made a stop at the 1.06-mile track.
The entry list features a total of 30 drivers, which means nobody will fail to make the race. Some of the drivers on it, include: Caleb Roark, Cole Custer, BJ McLeod, Ray Black Jr., John Hunter Nemechek, Tyler Reddick, Gray Gaulding, Erik Jones, Ted Minor, JR Heffner and Brandon Brown.
When race at the Chicagoland Speedway ended, Matt Crafton found himself with the points lead by five over teammate, Johnny Sauter. Crafton, who led 14 laps last Saturday night, finished the event in the runner-up spot for the fourth time of the year. Sauter, which went into the event last weekend first in the standings, left the 1.5-mile oval with a 14th-place finish after starting from the pole. This weekend will be interesting to see which of these two will come out on-top. The No. 88 truck still leads the owner points standings by four points over the Kyle Busch Motorsports No. 51.
German Quiroga looks to leave the New Hampshire Motor Speedway with his first career win in the series. With the run at the Gateway Motorsports Park in June, and many drivers have said this track drives very similar, he very well potentially could. He also nearly captured the win at the Canadian Tire Motorsports Park but was beat by Ryan Blaney by 0.05 seconds, which was the second closest finish in the series.
Joe Nemechek has had some great memories at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway. In 1999, he drove to his first victory and made his NASCAR Sprint Cup Series debut there in 1992. Also in 1992, Nemechek took home a Nationwide Series victory. This weekend, the son, John Hunter Nemechek, will look to score his first career NASCAR Camping World Truck Series victory. The last time out at the Canadian Motorsports Park he finished a career low of 25th.
The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race will be televised live on FOX Sports 1 Saturday at 1:00 p.m. Et. The live radio coverage of the race will be provided by the Motor Racing Network.
NCWTS: Kyle Busch Blows Field Away in Chicago
Kyle Busch captured the victory in the Lucas Oil 225 Saturday night at the Chicagoland Speedway after the race was post-poned late Friday evening. Busch dominated the field by leading 66 of the 150 laps that made up the total distance. The win didn't come easy tonight as he had to battle over-heating problems and an early speeding penalty 32 laps into the event. He also had to start the race from the 32nd position after the team made a driver change following practice. The win tonight marks his sixth of the year in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.
Finishing in second was Matt Crafton after having another solid run this weekend in his No. 88 Toyota Tundra. Crafton started the event from the ninth spot and quicky drove his way to the front after the start. The runner-up finish, and by him placing 12 spots ahead of his teammate Johnny Sauter, will make him the new points leader leaving Chicago. He led a total of 14 laps for three different times throughout the race. Crafton finished 1.129 seconds behind the race leader when the 150-lap event was completed.
Austin Dillon, who had a very good night in his seventh start of the year, came home with a third-place finishing effort. Like Busch and Crafton, Dillon led three different times throughout the evening and was probably the only driver that had something for the race winner. The 2012 series champion started the night from the fourth-position to earn his fourth top-10 finish at the Chicagoland Speedway.
Tyler Reddick will leave the event as the highest finishing Sunoco Rookie of the Year Contender after capturing his best career finish in the series. Reddick, who will get a full-time ride in 2015 with Brad Keselowski Racing, started the night from the 12th-position. He was able to drive his No. 19 Ford F-150 to a fourth-place finishing effort. This marks the second race of the year that Larson has finished a Nationwide Series race in the runner-up spot. Saturday marked the second time that he has finished inside the top-10 in four starts at the 1.5-mile oval.
Kyle Busch, who once again dominated the race by leading 141 laps, fell just shy of the victory despite leading six different times. Busch fell behind on pit strategy when Harvick took two tires and the No. 54 crew elected to take four. This caused him to fall back into the 16th position for the restart and was unable to drive back to the lead.
Nationwide Series points leader, Chase Elliott, will leave the Chicagoland Speedway with the lead by 18 points over teammate, Regan Smith. Elliott brought home his No. 9 to a 10th-place finish, while Smith finished in the eighth position, made the race much more interesting. Rolling off from the third spot this afternoon will be Kyle Busch after posting his fast time of 29.817 seconds, 181.105 mph. The four cars of John Jackson, Morgan Shepherd, Mike Harmon and Carl Long all did not qualify for the race. Blake Koch, who was out of the race until there was around two-minutes remaining, was able to run quicker than Long to move into 32nd.
Aric Almirola, who is making his first start in the Nationwide Series since March of 2013, will roll off from the 10th spot. This weekend will mark his first start in the series since the Phoenix International Raceway in March of last year.
