Jason White, No. 23 GunBroker.com Ford, Michigan International Speedway Preview

Jason White on Michigan:  “We all know that Michigan is a wide and fast race track.  But the new pavement has taken it to a whole new level as we saw with the Cup cars.  We were lucky enough to test there at the Goodyear tire test recently and there is so much grip in the track which really allows the truck to handle through the corners.  Michigan has always been a horsepower track and we have an awesome engine package from Roush Yates Engines and that will play a crucial part for us this weekend.  I think the groove on the new pavement will widen out as the race goes on and we will very likely have an awesome three-wide finish.”

“I feel that this GunBroker.com team has really turned the corner and are starting to hit on all cylinders.  We are halfway through the season and sitting in the top-10 in points – now it is time for us get up front and challenge for some wins here in the second half of the season and that starts this weekend in Michigan.”

Jason at Michigan:This will mark Jason’s sixth career NASCAR Camping World Truck Series start at the track in the Irish Hills of Michigan. Jason has two Top-10 finishes at the track with a sixth place finish in last year’s event and seventh in the 2010 race.  White also has a start at the track in the NASCAR Nationwide Series finishing 32nd in the 2003 event.

Race Rewind:  In what turned out to be an event-filled few days for Jason White, the driver and his team stayed focused on what was important and came home with an 11th-place finish in the running of the Pocono Mountains 125 at Pocono Raceway.  One of the shortest races of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season presented White and his team with little time to adjust on the handling of their No. 23 GunBroker.com Ford, but their determination and focus led to a solid finish in the race representing the halfway point of the season.

The finish kept Jason in the 10th position in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series drivers’ standings – only 16 points out of the ninth spot.

“Sniper” Targets Success at Michigan: The GunBroker.com team will be bringing the truck they nicknamed “Sniper” to Michigan International Speedway this week.  In honor of the team’s sponsor, GunBroker.com, the GB Racing team uses gun and shooting themed names for most of their trucks – thus the name “Sniper”.   “Sniper” is the team’s newest truck that Jason ran for the first time at Kentucky Speedway as well as last time out in Pocono.  Jason and the team also recently tested “Sniper” at Michigan International Speedway at the Goodyear tire test and they hope to utilize the information gathered to help them this weekend.

Michigan Tire Testing: Jason White and his team took part in the July 30th Goodyear tire test at Michigan International Speedway.  As a follow up to the first event of the season on the newly re-paved track, the test served as an opportunity for Goodyear to confirm the new tire compound needed to handle the faster speeds on the 2-mile oval.  “We were really fast at the tire test and there is no reason to believe that we won’t be when we go back this week for the race,” stated White.  “There is a tremendous amount of grip on the track and with these trucks it is going to produce some awesome racing.  I have been good at Michigan with top-10 finishes the last two races there and I think this is our time to challenge for a win.”
