Rookie – Harraka to make first start at Chicagoland Speedway

Paulie Harraka and the No. 5 Wauters Motorsports team head to the windy city for the running of the American Ethanol 225 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Chicagoland Speedway Saturday, July 21, 2012.

Harraka will be making his first start at the parabolic 1.5-mile racetrack in Joliet, Illinois.

“From everything I’ve heard, Chicagoland is a great track to race on,” Harraka said. “I have never been there, but I’m excited to check it out and continue to build on our forward momentum this season.”

Team owner Richie Wauters touts one win (Kyle Busch, 2009) and two top-10 finishes in two starts at Chicagoland Speedway.

“Chicagoland is similar to Kentucky Speedway but a bit more worn out,” Richie Wauters said.  “The surface is pretty rough in turns three and four.  We are looking forward to heading there and hoping to have a better finish this week.”

At Iowa Speedway last weekend, Paulie Harraka was in 12th place position when a tire issue sent the truck into the outside wall ending the night early for the Wauters Motorsports team.

“It’s disappointing,” Harraka said.  “This Wauters Motorsports team works so hard on these trucks. We were running solid laps upfront until the tire went down. We will get back at it in Chicagoland and see what we can do.”
