NGOTS Recap: Chastain dominates at Pocono

Today’s NGOTS Gander RV 150 at Pocono Raceway started with Austin Hill on the pole and fan favorite Ross Chastain on the outside of the front row. Fortunately for them they were out front as Stewart Friesen lost control in turn one and collected Anthony Alfredo.

Chastain maintained the lead on the restart, but it was Bryan Dauzat going around before the field could complete its first green flag lap.

The trucks couldn’t avoid wecking on the third restart either as Bayley Currey spun on the front stretch. This time NASCAR didn’t throw the yellow flag and the trucks continued. With the laps winding down in the first stage several teams played strategy by pitting before the green and white checkered flag.

Chastain was able to maintain the lead for the stage win collecting the all important playoff point before staying out during the caution to keep the lead for the restart.

Within a few laps bad luck struck the #16 of Austin Hill who found himself in the garage with transmission issues as Chastain outpaced his competitors until surrendering the lead to bring his car to pit road for service.

Harrison Burton would hang on to the lead to win stage 2.

After another round of pit stops Chastain was back out front for the start of stage 3.

Rookie Tyler Ankrum found himself in second gaining ground on chastain with less than 15 to go, but Chastain was able to pull away again with 10 laps to go as both would go back to conserving fuel before the finish.

It would be Ross Chastain winning in dominating fashion yet again.

Top five: Ross Chastain, Tyler Ankrum, Harrison Burton, Christian Eckes, Brett Moffitt

The NGOTS goes dirt racing this Wednesday August 1st at 9:00PM ET. for the Eldora Dirt Dirby.
