Copp Motorsports to Dedicate Season to Truck Series Pioneer
Among the pre-season hustle and bustle, Copp Motorsports is pleased to announce that they will pay homage to NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series (NGOTS) pioneer Mike Mittler throughout the 2019 season.
Starting with the season opener at Daytona International Speedway, what used to be the No. 83, will now become the No. 63 for the 2019 NGOTS season.
“Mike [Mittler] and I have worked together extensively over the years and I couldn’t be prouder to pay tribute to him this season,” says Team Owner DJ Copp. “Mike has been in the truck series since its inception. He has given some pretty big names their start in NASCAR, including Carl Edwards and Justin Allgaier. If it wasn’t for people like Mike who have paved the way, we wouldn’t have the opportunities that we have now to participate in NASCAR”.
Mittler, who has been battling some health concerns over the past year, has been operating his team from his home shop in Missouri since 1995.
“This keeps our string alive of being a team that has run each year since the series started. DJ put his hand out to help us a few years back when we were in a jam at the track, and we have worked together ever since”, says Mittler.
For the third consecutive season at Daytona International Speedway, plate-racing ace Bobby Gerhart will drive the No. 63 Lucas Oil entry now for Copp Motorsports.
“Bobby [Gerhart] has a lot of experience in these plate races and I am looking forward to seeing him in the No. 63 this week”, says DJ Copp.
Help us keep the No. 63 legacy alive and partner with us.
Catch Copp Motorsports, Gerhart and the newly acclaimed No. 63 team in Friday night’s Nextera Energy 250 on FS1 at 7:30 p.m. ET.
