Still nursing an ankle injury he sustained just over three weeks ago, John Wes Townley had hoped to compete in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Friday night. But unable to put full weight on his left ankle, Townley decided earlier today to turn to fellow Watkinsville, Ga. driver Brady Boswell to fill the seat of the No. 05 Chevrolet.
“The good news is I was able to get off the crutches last week. The bad news is I’m still limping some,” Townley said. “Nothing is broken. But it’s just going to take longer than I thought for it to heal.
“This will be a great opportunity for Brady. I know he’ll do a solid job for Athenian Motorsports. He drove for us at Eldora this summer. I’m confident he can get us a strong finish at Homestead.”
Friday night’s NCWTS Ford EcoBoost 200 at Homestead-Miami Speedway will air live on Fox Sports 1 and MRN Radio at 8 p.m. eastern.
