MB Motorsports Update: Kroger 200 / Martinsville Speedway

Even though the calendar shows it’s October, it feels more like December at Martinsville Speedway. Cold temperatures, rain and wind do not make for a good combination, but they were no match for Tyler Tanner and the EF-65 / MB Motorsports crew.

After waiting out the inclement weather, the EF-65 Ford finally took to the track, giving Tanner his first taste of NASCAR’s oldest track. Tanner, a 20 year old ASU engineering student, used his extensive short track experience to turn some impressive practice laps on the ‘Paperclip”.

MB Motorsports owner Mike Mittler came away quite impressed.  “Great job today by Tyler Tanner,” states Mittler.  “I know he was anxious to get in the truck and get some laps under his belt, but every time we thought we were going to get to go out, the rain would start up again.  Instead of getting frustrated, Tyler kept his cool and went out and turned some very good laps in the EF-65 Ford for never having driven here before.”

“I wish the weather would have cooperated so we could have gotten more time on the track,” says Tanner.  “This being my first series start and first time even seeing Martinsville, let alone driving here, obviously the more laps we could get the better off we will be.  I did the best I could do on track and tried to relay to Mike and Paul what the truck needed.  Hopefully the weather will clear up before qualifying tomorrow morning so we can get the EF-65 Ford into the field.”

Qualifying is scheduled for 9:40AM Saturday 10-29-11.
