Tyler Reddick Texas Motor Speedway Recap

By any measurement, Tyler Reddick (@TylerReddick) had a good race in the WinStar World Casino & Resort 350 Friday night at Texas Motor Speedway.  But with just two races remaining in the 2015 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season, good might not be good enough to win the title.

Reddick scored a fifth place finish – his series leading 12th top five in 21 races this season and his third consecutive. He claimed his second top five in four starts at the 1.5-mile speedway.

But as impressive as those numbers are, Reddick lost ground in the series championship standings. The driver of the Stoney Creek Records Ford F-150 ranks third, 21 points behind the leader with two races remaining.

Reddick started 17th in the 147-lap race and from the drop of the green flag he started climbing through the field.  He moved inside the top 10 by lap 17 and was up to eighth place when a series of green flag pit stops began for the leaders on lap 43.  Tyler cycled into the lead on lap 48 before he pitted one lap later for four tires and adjustments.  When the pit stop sequence was completed, Reddick was 10th in the running order.

He was ninth at the time of the first and only caution of the race on lap 55.  None of the leaders chose to pit during the yellow and he restarted there when the green flag waved on lap 59.

Reddick briefly ran outside the top 10 immediately following the restart but rallied back towards the front on lap 66.  He was back up to 10th place on lap 68 and five laps later he was seventh.  Tyler grabbed sixth on lap 78 and stayed there as the race neared the 100 lap mark and the second and final round of scheduled pit stops.  He made his final stop for four tires and fuel under green on lap 97.

Armed with fresh tires, Reddick again started climbing back up the leaderboard.  He was seventh by lap 100 and was up to fifth place on lap 105.  But without the benefit of another yellow Reddick could get no closer to the leaders.  He was credited with a fifth place finish in the final rundown.
