Dye Gains Ground in Standings with 12th-Place Finish at Gateway - Speedway Digest

Daniel Dye crossed the line 12th position at World Wide Technology Raceway (WWTR) on Saturday afternoon. Dye was running in the top-10 until a caution during a green flag pit cycle set him back. The driver of the No. 43 Hamlin & Associates Chevrolet Silverado RST earned a total of 27 points to retake the 12th position in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series (NCTS) points standings and sits 37 markers off from the cut line.

Dye started his weekend at WWTR with a time of 33.12 seconds in qualifying on Friday, which was good enough to start 14th. After a lengthy weather delay on Saturday, the green flag finally waived for the Gateway 200. Dye had a strong start by moving to 10th-place by lap 10 despite needing a better balance in Turns 1 and 2. Stage 1 concluded on lap 35 and Dye was able to finish ninth and earned two points.

Dye made his first stop to pit road under the stage caution to get four tires, fuel, and a chassis adjustment. He cycled out into 24th position after other drivers took two tires. With the adjustments, he was able to move up 10 positions and finish Stage 2 in 14th-place on lap 70. Dye told Bainbridge that his No. 43 Chevrolet felt great. Bainbridge took an aggressive strategy and brought Dye to pit road for two ride side tires and fuel on lap 73.

With a great pit stop from the No. 43 Hamlin and Associates team, Dye was able to come out of pit road in second-place to start the final stage. Dye was able to stay in top-10 contention when the green flag pit cycle began on lap 118. The final stop of the day for him came on lap 120 for four tires and fuel only. A caution appeared on lap 129 while Dye ran 13th in the middle of the pit cycle. Dye was fortunate enough to get the free pass and rejoin the lead lap. Dye finished his race in 12th position and now sits 12th in the NCTS points standings.
