SS Green Light Racing Welcomes Back Jimmy Weller

SS Green Light racing is pleased to announce that Ohio native Jimmy Weller will return to the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series team for 2014. Weller spent 2013 splitting time racing near his Ohio home and the SS Green Light Racing shop learning the ins and outs of NASCAR racing while making five starts for the Mooresville, NC based team including a best finish of seventeenth at the season ending Ford EcoBoost 200 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

The second-generation driver began his driving career in 2002 and has run in several different divisions including modifieds and sprints on dirt and numerous late models divisions on asphalt. Jimmy has made over 20 starts in the NASCAR K & N Pros Series East over the last several seasons.

The SS Green Light Teams will run primarily Chevrolet Silverado trucks in 2014 with power from Mark Smith’s Pro Motors.

“We are going to run at least twelve races with Bobby Dotter, It’s an awesome deal. I think we are going to run most of the bigger racetracks,” Weller said. “It all came together real quick and Bobby agreed to what we have going on. It will be my first time at most of these tracks other than Gateway; which I ran on once a long time ago. Daytona is going to be real fun, I’m looking forward to learning the drafting.”

Weller will compete in a minimum of twelve races behind the wheel of the No. 08 Silverado beginning with the 2014 opening Nextera Energy Resources 250 on February 21st at Daytona. As they did at Homestead-Miami, Engine Parts Plus of Detroit, MI will provide support to Weller and the SS Green Light team at Daytona and select races throughout the 2014 NCWTS season.

“I’m excited that Engine Parts Plus is going to give us some support this year, we’re not sure exactly which races yet, but we know they will be on the truck for Daytona,” continued Weller. “We have a couple other sponsors that we are talking to and we should know in the next few weeks.”

SS Green Light Racing has established itself as one of the longest tenured teams in the NCWTS with 313 consecutive starts with numerous top-fives and a second place finish last season at Talladega. The team has amassed nearly 600 starts over the last 13 seasons.

Jason Miller has returned to the SS Green Light Team and will guide Weller in 2014. “I’m looking forward to working with Jason, everybody says he is a great guy to work with and we have gotten along very well at the shop so far. We’ve been cutting it up with each other an having a lot of fun,” concluded Weller with a chuckle.

“I’m really looking forward to this season, I think it’s going to be a good year for everybody.”
