Spring or Fall Roush Fenway Finds Success at Charlotte

With 20 NASCAR wins in the record books Charlotte Motor Speedway has always been a favorite of the Roush Fenway teams.  In the past 25 years RFR teams have accumulated eight Cup and 12 Nationwide Series wins, while leading over 5,000 laps.  This weekend RFR hopes to add to those totals.

In the Sprint Cup Series Roush Fenway teams have won four spring 600-mile races, and four fall 500-mile races with three different drivers.  Matt Kenseth, Mark Martin and Jeff Burton all won multiple Charlotte races for RFR.

On the Nationwide side, five different drivers have combined for the 12 wins.  Carl Edwards won most recently taking the checkered flag in the fall race while his RFR teammate Kenseth swept the weekend getting a win the next night in the Cup race.

This weekend RFR is already off to a good start as Greg Biffle won the pole with a new track record for Saturday night’s race with a lap of 193.708mph.

“That obviously is the fastest I’ve been around this race track, fast as anybody has, and it was a nerve-racking lap,” Biffle said.  “The car was really, really good.  I owe a lot to the guys working on the car and Doug Yates and the engine shop for how hard they’ve worked on these engines to be able to put down a lap like that.”

RFR is looking for another fall weekend sweep at Charlotte Motor Speedway, and the organization has four drivers with their sights set on victory lane.
