Earnhardt Ganassi Racing and the No. 1 Team to Host K9’s for Warriors at Richmond

Earnhardt Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates (EGR) and No. 1 Bass Pro Shops/McDonald’s Chevrolet driver Jamie McMurray will host US Army veteran Justin Madore and his service dog Cody, at the Federated Auto Parts 400 on Saturday, Sept. 8 at Richmond International Raceway (RIR).

Justin is a recipient of the K9’s for Warriors, an organization that provides service canines to returning veterans that suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) or Traumatic Brain Injuries.  Service canines are medically proven recovery aid for our warriors suffering from PTSD.  Justin and Cody will also be introduced at the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver/crew chief meeting at RIR.

Notes of Interest with K9’s for Warriors:

·        K9’s for Warriors, pairs carefully vetted rescue dogs that are given a new LEASH on life as a service dog for a deserving American Warrior. Service canines are considered medical equipment and are recognized by the U.S. Department of Justice Civil Rights Division, and the American disability act of 1990

·        At the K9 Academy or DOG HOUSE, located in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, every warrior is provided with a canine, training, certification, equipment, housing meals, vet care and teaching manuals all at no cost to the warrior

·        K9’s for Warriors was started by Shari Duval, after her son, a veteran K9 police officer that worked as a contractor with the Department of the Army as a bomb dog handler and served two tours in Iraq, returned home with PTSD.  After two years of research on canine assistance for PTSD Duval decided the best way to help deserving troops and veterans was to start a non-profit to train and give service canines to assist our American Warriors’ efforts to return to civilian life with dignity and independence.
