Harry Lee Hyde – Son of Champion Crew Chief Harry Hyde Passes away

Mr. Harry Lee Hyde, age 64, passed away Saturday, March 31, 2012, at his home with his family by his side.

A memorial service will be held 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at Wilkinson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Terry Faulkenbury officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Harry Lee was born May 14, 1947 in Louisville, Ky to the late Harry S. Hyde and Florence Jennings Hyde. He worked for more than 20 years in NASCAR. He was a member of

the 1970 K & K Insurance NASCAR Championship team with driver Bobby Isaac and crew chief, Harry Hyde. Throughout his career, Harry Lee worked with drivers such as Buddy Baker, Dave Marcis, Neil Bonnet, Ralph Earnhardt, Geoff Bodine, Ken Schrader, and Tim Richmond. During the final years of his time in NASCAR, he served as a fabricator, truck driver and pit crew gas man for Hendrick Motorsports Folger’s team. Harry Lee served our country in the US Air Force for four years, was a member of Masonic Lodge #720 and was a Shriner.

His loving family includes his wife, Dianne Reeder Hyde; daughters, Renee Pierre and husband, Elbert; Tamara Lockhart and husband, Todd; and Sheree Hyde-Hughes and husband, Brian; son, Lee Hyde and wife, Maria; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Ronnie Hyde of Charlotte.
