Points Leader Biffle Wins Pole at Bristol; Caps Strong Roush Fenway Day at “Thunder Valley”

Roush Fenway’s Greg Biffle covered the .533 oval of Bristol Motor Speedway in 15.324 seconds (125.215 mph) to win the Sprint Cup pole and cap off a strong performance for RFR that saw Carl Edwards lead the day’s Sprint practice session as well.

Edwards qualified eighth for Sunday’s Sprint Cup race, while Matt Kenseth will start 21st. Both Edwards and Kenseth have won twice in the Cup Series at Bristol, while Biffle looks for his first win at the track.

The pole is Roush Fenway’s 11th in the Sprint Cup Series at Bristol and its 17th overall. It marks the second straight season RFR has won the pole at the Bristol Spring race. It is Roush Fenway’s second pole in four Sprint Cup events in 2012. The pole is Roush Fenway’s 81st in Sprint Cup and its 213 overall in NASCAR.

In addition, Roush Fenway’s Ricky Stenhouse Jr., coming off of last week’s impressive win at Las Vegas, led the final Nationwide Series practice session at Bristol. His teammate Trevor Bayne was third fastest in the session.

Roush Fenway is looking for its 18th NASCAR win at Bristol this weekend.
