In the team’s maiden road course outing, Parker Kligerman navigated the Gaunt Brothers Racing (GBR) Toyota Camry to a 23rd-place finish Sunday at Sonoma Raceway.
Starting 34th, Kligerman broke into the top 25 inside the final 25 laps of the event, securing the result towards the end of a lengthy 56-lap run under green-flag conditions. During that run, he climbed as high as 11th in the running order before relinquishing the position to pit for fuel in advance of the finish.
“Everybody on the GBR team did an outstanding job this weekend,” said Marty Gaunt, GBR owner. “To finish 23rd in our first road course start, with so many green-flag laps, was a testament to this team and to Parker, who did a great job behind the wheel all weekend long.”
Kligerman, in his second start with GBR, was satisfied with the effort, his first on the Sonoma road course.
“I’m so proud of this GBR team for our performance this weekend. It may not have been flashy, but we out-raced some more experienced teams and got a great finish,” said Kligerman. “I had fun in my first race at Sonoma. The driver can make such a difference here with the way the tires wear. It made it a race in which I had to drive really hard while also conserving the rear tires.”
