Whitt Finishes 32nd in Apache Warrior 400 at Dover International Speedway

Stage 1
  • Cole Whitt qualified 33rd to start the Apache Warrior 400
  • Lap 15: running 34th, Whitt relayed to Crew Chief Frank Kerr he needed more to lean on in the right rear
  • Lap 28: Whitt running 34th, fell a lap down from the leader
  • Lap 66: P34 -2: “Car is really out of the track, especially the rear. Trying not to spin out” 
  • Lap 83: Crew Chief called Whitt to pit under green flag for four tires, fuel, wedge and air pressure adjustments
  • Caution Lap 88 (incident): causing a red flag situation stopping the field 
  • Stage 1 Completion Caution: Whitt completes the stage 33rd, two laps down from the leader. Crew Chief Frank Kerr kept Whitt out on track to take the wave around for track position 
 
Stage 2
  • Whitt took the green flag in the 33rd position, two laps down from the leader to start Stage 2
  • Lap 146: Whitt lost another lap to the leader making him three laps down but remained 33rd in the leaderboard 
  • Caution Lap 168 (fluid on track): Whitt was scored 32nd, three laps down from the leader. He pitted for four tires, fuel and a packer removed from the left front of the No. 72. He took the restart in the same position (32nd, three laps down)
  • Stage 2 Completion Caution: Whitt competed the stage 33rd, four laps down from the leader. He relayed he was losing rear grip and had nothing the lean on in the right rear. He pitted for four tires, fuel, a packer added to the left front and an air pressure adjustment 
 
Stage 3
  • Whitt stated Stage 3 in the 32nd position, four laps down from the leader
  • By Lap 300, Whitt continued to battle lack of rear grip and had fallen five laps down from the leader and was 33rd in the leaderboard
  • Lap 327: Crew Chief Frank Kerr called Whitt to pit under green flag for four tires, fuel and a chassis adjustment
  • Whitt completed the day taking the checkers in the 32nd position in the Apache Warrior 400 at Dover International Speedway
