Tyler Reddick Dover International Speedway Recap 2016

eddick (@TylerReddick) led 39 laps and scored a seventh-place finish Friday evening in the Jacob Companies 200 at Dover (Del.) International Speedway, his first top 10 of the 2016 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season.  He moved up to 10th-place in the series championship standings, a gain of five positions.  In three Dover starts, the driver of the Cooper Standard Ford F-150 has finished eighth or better (average finish of 5.33) and has led a total of 79 laps.

Rain showers washed out qualifying on Friday afternoon and the starting lineup was determined by the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series rule book, giving Reddick the 16th-place starting position.

From the moment the green flag waved, Reddick began to efficiently work his way through traffic.  He had patiently worked his way up to 11th-place when the first caution slowed the race on lap 44.  One lap later, Reddick stopped for four tires and adjustments, and lightening quick service by the Cooper Standard pit crew put Reddick out eighth for the restart – a gain of two positions.

Reddick again began to work his way through traffic and cleanly picked his way through the second and third cautions and subsequent restarts to climb up to fourth position by lap 67.  He was running third by lap 81 when the fourth yellow flag gave him the opportunity to pit on lap 82.  Crew chief Doug Randolph chose to change right-side tires only during the visit to pit road, and Reddick restarted second when the race went green on lap 84.

He took the lead on lap 85 and held the top spot for the next 39 laps.  His truck became more and loose as the run went on, and Reddick slipped back to third when the fifth yellow slowed the pace on lap 133.  Reddick pitted one lap later for four tires and adjustments and once again, outstanding pit work moved him up to second place when the race went green on lap 139.

Despite his best efforts, unfortunately, Reddick could get no closer to the front.  Battling a truck that was getting tighter and tighter during the final run of the race, Reddick slipped back to fifth-place as the 200-lap event entered its closing stages.  He restarted fifth following the sixth and final caution on lap 169.  Despite his best efforts, Reddick couldn’t overcome his truck’s handling woes and was credited with a seventh-place finish.
