After a couple of tough weeks and a streak of bad racing luck, Korbin Forrister is ready to get back behind the wheel of the No. 08 Chevy Silverado and hopes to change his fortunes in Saturday’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Careers for Veterans 200 at the Michigan Speedway.
Without a primary sponsor again this week, Korbin has once again decaled his Chevy Silverado with the “Trump for President” paint scheme that has garnered a huge amount of social media attention at the past two races at Eldora and Pocono.
Forrister and the SS Green Light Racing No. 08 is currently 13th in the NCWTS driver standings at the mid-pint of the 2015 season despite running on a limited budget. “We don’t have any funding again this week so we’re going to keep the Trump for President scheme on the truck again,” said Forrister. “It’s helped us get a lot of media attention and we are hoping that someone takes notice and gives us a little help to finish out the second half of the season.”
“We’re racing to help Make America Great Again with American flags, a bald eagle and Trump for President on the truck.”
“We’ve had a bit of a bad luck streak the last couple races so hopefully we can turn things around this week at Michigan,” he continued. “Sometimes things just don’t go your way for a couple races and then they just turn right around and you go on a hot streak.”
Michigan Speedway is a wide, two-mile oval with multiple racing groves and a favorite of many drivers and fans with trucks able to run, down low, up high or anywhere in the middle depending on the set-up and where the driver can find the most speed. “I have a few laps in an ARCA car at Michigan and we could run almost wide open,” Korbin explained. “I figure with the trucks we should be wide open all the way around for sure.”
“Everyone has been working hard at the shop and I’ve got a good feeling that we are going to break through with a solid run and finish in the top-twenty.”
