Tyler Young, driver of the No. 02 Randco Industries/Young’s Building Systems Chevrolet, made his Canadian Tire Motorsports Park (CTMP) debut in Sunday afternoon’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) Chevrolet Silverado 250. The 2nd annual event marked the Young’s Motorsports driver’s eighth track debut in 14 races this season.
Starting 19th, the Sunoco Rookie of the Year contender maintained a position inside the top-20 until bringing his machine to pit road on lap six for fuel only. Returning to the 2.459-mile road course in the 22nd position, Young was able to work his way up to 20th before being forced down pit road on lap 30 for a flat right front tire. The unscheduled stop under green threw off the teams two stop pit strategy and crew chief Bryan Berry was forced to bring Young back down pit road for a third time under the race’s first caution at lap 48 for four tires and fuel. In the final 13 circuits, Young was able to gain two positions around the 10-turn course to cross the stripe 18th behind race winner Ryan Blaney. The solid effort marks Young’s ninth top-20 finish of the 2014 NCWTS season.
