Young’s Motorsports announced today that Tyler Young will compete full-time in 2014 behind the wheel of the No. 02 Chevrolet Silverado in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS). Young, who made his Truck Series debut in 2012 and has 11 career starts in NASCAR’s third division, will make his Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway (DIS) debut in the NextEra Energy Resources 250 on Friday February 21, 2014.
“I can’t wait to get the season started,” Young said. “We are a small, family-owned team, but everyone here is so passionate and driven. This entire team has worked so hard during the off-season to get ready to compete full-time in 2014 and I’m looking forward to getting on the track in Daytona in just a few weeks.”
“This is my first full season in the Truck Series and there will be a lot of tracks I’ve never been to,” the 23-year-old said. “The Truck Series, in my opinion, is one of the most competitive series in NASCAR. I honestly expect this year to be a learning experience for me, but there is no reason we can’t go out there and knock off top-15’s, maybe even some top-10’s each and every week. As long as I can take care of my equipment, race smart, and be there at the end, I think I can classify the year as a success.”
Young, who started racing go-karts at the age of eight, won the International Karting Foundation Championship in 2004. From 2005-2008, the Midland, Tex. native battled some of the best that Texas had to offer in Hobby Stocks, Sport Modifieds and Modifieds before moving to North Carolina in 2008 to pursue a career in NASCAR. Young has spent the last six years (2008-2013) competing in the X-1R Pro Cup Series. In 60 starts, Young has one win at Hickory Motor Speedway (2012), including 646 laps led, six poles, 20 top-five and 40 top-10 finishes, a feat that proved the talented driver is a star on the rise.
“This move has been a long time coming,” Young continued. “I’ve enjoyed moving up through the ranks and finding some success along the way, and we definitely didn’t want to jump into anything. Young’s Motorsports had plans to compete full-time in the Truck Series in 2013, but decided to cut back once we got our feet wet. Taking a step back last year has allowed us to build on our program, so that we could come out of the gate strong in 2014. We have added some new elements and key personnel to our team this year, so I can honestly say I’ve never been more excited about a racing season in my life.”
Young’s 2014 season will be led by veteran crew chief, Bryan Berry. Berry, a Homestead, Fla. native, is an 11-year veteran of the NCWTS and has 178 starts to his resume, including eight top-five and 27 top-10 finishes.

The 22-race NCWTS season will kick-off in south Florida at DIS on Friday, Feb. 21. The 17th Annual NextEra Energy Resources 250 will air live on FOX Sports 1 at 7 p.m. ET.
