ARCA: Willie Mullins Wins First Career Pole Ahead of Season Opener at Daytona

The ARCA Menards Series took the track Friday at Daytona International Speedway for qualifying as 50 cars went after 40 starting spots. The fastest 34 drivers made the race, while the six other available spots were based on ARCA’s provisional process.

Willie Mullins scored his first career ARCA Menards Series pole while posting a time of 48.982s / 183.740 mph. Mullins enters the 2024 season opener still looking for his career victory.

Tim Richmond rolls off second, followed by Jake Finch, Toni Breidinger, and Ryan Huff.

Justin Bonsignore, making his series debut Friday, followed by Gil Linster, Bryan Dauzat, Issac Johnson, and Jason Kitzmiller rounded out the top 10.

Reigning Daytona winner Greg Van Alst will start 22nd on the grid. Van Alst finished 2023 with two top five and five top 10 finishes.

Marco Andretti also joins the field of 40 drivers and will start 26th at the famed Daytona International Speedway.

Ten cars failed to qualify including Takuma Koga, Shane Van Gisbergen, Mitch Gibson, Becca Monopoli, Hunter Deshautelle, Cody Dennison, Charles Buchanan, AJ Moyer, Brayton Laster, and Dale Shearer.

NASCAR says Van Gisbergen failure to make the race will not keep him from making his XFINITY debut on Saturday.
