Included in the 2014 NASCAR Hall of Fame class were:
- · Glenn “Fireball” Roberts, who moved to the Daytona Beach area as a teenager and attended Seabreeze High School. Roberts dominated Daytona International Speedway in 1962 by winning the pole, a qualifying race, the Daytona 500 and the Firecracker 250 in July. Among his 33 NASCAR victories was also the inaugural Firecracker 250 (now Coke Zero 400) in 1959.
- · Dale Jarrett, a three-time Daytona 500 champion who won NASCAR’s biggest, richest and most prestigious race in 1993 with Joe Gibbs Racing and 1996 and 2000 with Robert Yates Racing. Jarrett’s father, Ned, called the finish for CBS Sports for all of Jarrett’s Daytona 500 victories. Dale Jarrett is one of only five drivers who have won the Daytona 500 three or more times.
- · Maurice Petty, chief engine builder for Petty Enterprises. Maurice Petty delivered thehorsepower that propelled Richard Petty to a majority of his record 200 NASCAR victories, plus his seven NASCAR premier series championships and seven Daytona 500 victories. Maurice Petty also served as the crew chief for the 1970 Daytona 500 winning car driven by Pete Hamilton.
- · Jack Ingram, who is one of the legendary drivers of what is today called the NASCAR Nationwide Series. Ingram won three consecutive championships from 1972-74 in the Late Model Sportsman Division as well as two NASCAR Busch Series titles (now the NASCAR Nationwide Series). Flock is 18th on NASCAR’s career victory list with 39.
“The legacy of racing at Daytona is strongly represented among the 2014 class of NASCAR Hall of Fame inductees,” Track President Joie Chitwood III said. “From racing on the beach to winning the Daytona 500, these legends each have their own unique story and place in the history books at the ‘World Center of Racing.’ ”

In a partnership between Rev Racing and Toyota, Antron Brown, the 2012 National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) Top Fuel champion and the first African-American to win a major auto racing championship in the United States, will test his skills behind the wheel of a Camry stock car at Virginia’s Motor Mile Speedway in Radford, Va., on Tuesday, May 28.
“We are excited that NHRA champion and world class competitor Antron Brown has chosen Rev Racing as his entryway into stock car racing. He is a great ambassador for the motorsports world, and his commitment to diversity is something that makes this partnership really work,” said Max Siegel, CEO of Rev Racing.
Brown will be testing at the Virginia short track (.416-mile oval) alongside NASCAR Drive for Diversity drivers Bryan Ortiz, Daniel Suarez, Mackena Bell, and Ryan Gifford. Both Gifford and Suarez have won races this season in the NKNPS East and NASCAR Toyota Series, respectively. Last year, Ortiz finished fifth in the NKNPS East standings in his rookie season, and Bell is currently third in the Sunoco Rookie of the Year battle.
“I can’t tell you how thrilled I am to have this opportunity,” said Brown. “I’ve known the leadership at Rev Racing for a long time. Their operation is top notch and I can’t think of a better platform or program with which to test my oval racing skills.
“I have a passion for NHRA drag racing and love driving the Matco Tools dragster at Don Schumacher Racing (DSR),” added Brown. “But I’m very competitive at anything I do and I always love a new challenge. I’m excited to have this opportunity to turn left.”
Both Rev Racing and DSR captured championships racing Toyotas last season -- Rev Racing won the NKNPS East championship and DSR the NHRA Top Fuel World championship, and continue to have a strong partnership with Toyota.
"Antron Brown has been a great partner for Toyota through Don Schumacher Racing, and we're delighted to support his opportunity to achieve success with Rev Racing. Toyota is proud of our relationship with both organizations," said Keith Dahl, Toyota’s national manager of motorsports and engagement marketing. "Toyota has been a supporter of diversity in the work place, within its organization and specifically with the Rev Racing program for many years. Not only are DSR and Rev Racing committed to winning championships, but they are also committed to pioneering diversity efforts in motorsports."
The test will take place between 9:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. at Motor Mile Speedway and will be open to the public. Media are invited to attend the test session.
Following the test, Brown will head to New Jersey to compete in the NHRA Toyota Summernationals (May 31-June 2) at Raceway Park in Englishtown. Feed The Children decals on MWR Toyotas at Charlotte
In 2010 brothers Darrell and Michael Waltrip combined their philanthropic efforts and created the Waltrip Brothers Charity Championship. The Waltrips selected Feed The Children as one of the golf tournament’s benefactors in 2012.
The Oklahoma City-based organization, whose mission is to provide hope and resources for those without life’s essentials, saw deadly tornados strike at its doorstep this week.
During this weekend’s Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Michael Waltrip Racing will carry Feed The Children decals on the roofs of all three of its NASCAR Sprint Cup Toyotas. The decals will bring greater awareness to an organization forced to turn its focus to its own Oklahoma community.
“The Feed The Children organization has become our friends and when we saw the horrific damage done this week, we immediately called to make sure everyone was OK and to pledge our continued support,” said Michael Waltrip, founder and co-owner of MWR.
“With so many homes destroyed, we know Feed The Children organizational leaders will not only need healing themselves, but will supply the much needed food and resources to the families who have been displaced. The Coca-Cola 600 is a big event for us and this is our way of connecting with millions of race fans to remind them this is a great way to help those who were devastated.”
The cars of drivers Martin Truex Jr., Clint Bowyer and Mark Martin will carry the decals in Sunday’s 600-mile race that airs on Fox at 6 p.m.
Founded in 1979, Feed The Children is on the front lines helping tornado victims and first responders in their hometown. Feed The Children is currently accepting product and monetary donations and providing help for Oklahoma tornado victims and first responders with ready-to-eat meals, disaster relief supplies, water and food.
Feed The Children is a BBB Wise Giving Alliance accredited charity and uses a comprehensive and integrated program to combat hunger and poverty to make sure no child or family goes to bed hungry.

"We are thrilled to hear that Dale has been named to the NASCAR Hall of Fame today. It is well deserved. His contributions to the sport are well documented and I can tell you his contributions to Joe Gibbs Racing really helped us to establish ourselves in the sport. The whole Gibbs family, J.D., Coy, and Pat really appreciated Dale taking a chance on us as our first driver. He gave us our first win which just happens to remain our only Daytona 500 win. J.D., Jimmy (Makar) and all of us at JGR are excited by today's announcement."
