Garrett Smithley closed his rookie season in the Xfinity Series with a 29th-place finish in Saturday’s Ford EcoBoost 300 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
Smithley qualified 28th and raced in the 20s most of the afternoon in the 33rd and final race of the season.
Smithley finished the year 18th in Xfinity points after a season in which he raced at many tracks for the first time.
“You always want to do better, but it was a pretty good year for us,” Smithley said. “I got my feet wet at a lot of tracks I had only heard or read about, so that’s a good thing for the future. I appreciate all the work the guys on the team put into this year.”
