A tire issue cost Garrett Smithley a couple of laps in Friday night’s Alsco 300 at Kentucky Speedway, and the rookie driver finished 24th.
Smithley was running well late in the race when a blown tire sent him to the pits.
“It was a good night for the KY FAME Chevrolet until we had the tire problem,” Smithley said. “We were running with most of the faster cars, and we still did after going to the pits. But losing laps like that knocks you down.”
Smithley is 17th in Xfinity driver points. Since February, he has climbed from 24th in points.
