Dalton Sargeant hopes to keep his west success going by adding a second win to his resume Saturday at Irwindale Speedway in California.
Sargeant earned his first NASCAR sanctioned win at the K&N Pro Series West opener at California’s Kern County Raceway Park. The 17-year-old Boca Raton, Florida, native won the 21 Means 21 Pole award presented by Coors Brewing Co. and then went on to lead the final 58 laps.
Sargeant, who is running for the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East championship, finished second at the K&N Pro Series East opener at Florida’s New Smyrna Speedway in February and third this past weekend at Greenville Pickens Speedway in South Carolina.
Another win won’t come easy for Sargeant. Veteran David Mayhew will be looking for redemption at Irwindale Saturday. The 33 year-old Atascadero, Californian, finished runner-up at Kern despite leading 85 laps. He has two top fives in seven starts at Irwindale, including a second-place finish last year.
